Becoming The Coach I Needed
Hi, I’m Reina — a Health and Habit Coach with a degree in nutrition and a passion for helping people heal their relationship with food and rebuild sustainable, joyful habits.
I started health coaching at 21, fresh out of college, but I’ll be honest — I didn’t love it at first. The nutrition world felt noisy and confusing. Every new study that came out contradicted the previous one and the mixed research made it hard to know what was truly right for people. I stepped away for a while, but my path has always centered around food — how it connects us, nourishes us, and shapes who we are.
I spent years cooking privately for clients, running a catering business, traveling the world to cook and farm. I even managed and taught on farms for a few years. Eventually, I became an adjunct professor, teaching emotional intelligence and nonviolent communication, which helped me remember how much I love teaching, mentoring, and supporting others in their growth.
When the pandemic hit, everything shifted. Like many people, I found myself turning to food for comfort. Over several years, I gained about 50 pounds — and for the first time, I experienced life in a larger body. It was humbling, and it gave me an entirely new perspective.
At the beginning of 2024, I decided to make a change. I used both my nutrition background and my coaching tools to rebuild my habits, heal my emotional relationship with food, and take care of my mental health. I lost the weight, but more importantly, I found peace — with food, with exercise, and with myself.
When my clients began reaching out to ask how I lost the weight, it reignited my passion for helping others transform their lives. I realized this has always been my calling, to help others create change that lasts, and this time I was ready to step up to the plate.
My approach is rooted in my own struggles as well as neuroscience and psychology. Having lived through both extremes — restriction and emotional eating — I understand the complex layers of food, body image, and self-worth from both a professional and personal lens.
Now, I help clients find balance, confidence, and self-trust through one-on-one coaching and self-guided PDF resources. My work focuses on mindset, habit formation, and emotional resilience — the true foundation of sustainable health.
